July at the Farm

July was so relaxing I forgot to blog - so here are some snippets, mostly from when I got up the energy to take pictures:

Jack enjoyed his gifts from Africa, a Maasai shield and spear -

Everybody pitched in to get ready for Farm and Fun -even the dogs - this one really is named "Mr Squinchy-Face"!

Helen is thinking about learning to use heavy machinery -

The blueberries are fantastic this year - Grandson Evan thinks so too - he ate so many we thought he'd be blue by the time he left!

The guys all think Dave's car is really cool! Dave and Claire created the new 'signature drink' of Villa Mir Farm for Farm and Fun - the blueberry margarita!

Carol was inspired by her visit to the Gee's Bend 'Architecture of the Quilt' show that Karen took her to in Denver, and made pillows for the verandah using pieced old work clothes and jeans. Clearfork played the Wednesday night concert at the Chesterland bandstand.

Don and Carol have brunch on the verandah. A large wild turkey has taken up residence and walks the lawn daily - some people have peacocks, but we have turkeys!

A very nice stained glass window was acquired for the new kitchen from an interesting architectural salvage place in Youngstown.

Don and Carol start demolition/salvage work on the house. The last 'before' pictures are taken!

Other than that - Farm and Fun was rainy again this year, but everyone still had a good time. I didn't take any pictures, but anyone who has some pls send and I will post. The Indians stink, but Don and I did spend a perfect summer afternoon at the Jake, watching them lose to Minnesota. We visited Oberlin and I finally got to show Don the campus and get him a whole wheat donut at Gibson's. Now its August, we're back in CT, and getting ready to send Mike off to school and Carol's business travel schedule kicks in again. More later as construction proceeds!
